First-Year Biology Educators’ Colloquium – FYBEC 1

We are hosting the inaugural First-Year Biology Educators’ Colloquium (FYBEC) at the University of Otago on November 29th and 30th 2010.  This meeting is specifically for people who are interested in the education of first-year biology students at university. There will be a mix of formal sessions of short presentations and workshop-style presentations and discussions.  Costs will be minimal as we hope to attract sponsors to help with room hire and participants are expected to pay their own way.  We will provide information on transport and accommodation nearer the time.  Both days will be held at the new seminar room at Orokonui Ecosanctuary and number will be limited to 60 participants only.

At the moment we have confirmed speakers of Prof Jeff Smith who will lead a session on constructing ‘good’ MCQs and Paul Denny on using PeerWise.
