Landcare Research

Frank Molinia of Landcare Research has experience with reproductive endocrinology of mammals and is currently working with Jen Germano, Phil Bishop, and Alison Cree of Otago University and with Auckland Zoo and the University of the South Pacific to develop a non-invasive hormone monitoring technique for a number of frog species (Southern Bell frog, Maud Island frog, Archey’s frog, and the Fijian Ground frog).  Hopefully, this and DNA tests will be used to help identify the sex of frogs that lack any obvious signs of sexual dimorphism.
