Hamilton Zoo

Kara_Goddard.jpgKara Goddard is the Bird, Reptile and Amphibian keeper at the Hamilton Zoo.  She has worked with birds and reptiles for 12 years and became involved with Hochstetters frogs in May 2006 when a captive colony was set up at the zoo by Kay Bradfield and the Department of Conservation. She looked after the frogs on a daily basis as part of her routine with Kay being in charge and making decisions. Kay wrote the captive protocols for the enclosure which will form a large basis of the husbandry manual. Kay left the zoo in December 2006 and Kara took over the Hochstetter captive co-ordinator role. hochstettersright.gif

She looks after the frogs on a daily basis which includes daily checks, feeding, temperature readings, water quality, enclosure maintenance and organising surveys bimonthly and meetings with DOC to discuss captive strategies and any research requirements.
